History of Bulgarian
Bulgarian was the first Slavic language to develop its own alphabet. Saints Cyril and Methodius created the Glagolitic script in the 9th century, which evolved into Cyrillic. Bulgaria's First Empire spread Slavic literacy throughout Eastern Europe. Old Church Slavonic, based on Bulgarian, remains the liturgical language of Orthodox Christianity.
Is Bulgarian Hard to Learn?
Bulgarian is unique among Slavic languages for losing noun cases, making grammar simpler. However, it has postposed definite articles and complex verb aspects. The Cyrillic alphabet requires learning but Bulgarian is arguably the easiest Slavic language.
